Hackensack Chamber of Commerce (“the Chamber,” “we,” “us,” or “our”) respects your privacy. This Privacy Policy explains how we collect, use, share, and protect information when you visit www.hackensackchamber.com (the “Site”), contact us, join or renew membership, list a business in our directory, attend or inquire about events, or otherwise interact with the Chamber.
By using the Site or submitting information to us, you agree to this Policy. If you do not agree, please do not use the Site or provide personal information.

2. Information We Collect
We collect information you provide directly and information collected automatically when you use the Site.
Information you provide
- Contact and inquiry details submitted through our Contact form or by phone, email, or mail, which may include first name, last name, organization, email address, phone number, mailing address, and message content.
- Membership and renewal information, which may include business or individual name, contact details, a short business description, advertising or Visitor’s Guide details, event listings, and related correspondence. Membership materials may be submitted in person, by mail, or through third-party forms (including Google Docs) linked from the Site.
- Business directory information that members ask us to publish, such as business name, description, category, location, phone, website, and similar listing details.
- Event registration, volunteer, sponsorship, vendor, or parade-related information when you sign up for Chamber or community events.
- Communications you send us, including questions about lodging, recreation, local businesses, and community events.
Information collected automatically
- Log and usage data such as IP address, browser type, device type, referring URL, pages viewed, dates and times of visits, and general location derived from IP address.
- Cookies, pixels, and similar technologies used for site function, analytics, and performance. Our platform may use analytics services (including AfterNorth statistics tools) to understand how the Site is used.
- Search queries entered in the Site search or directory tools.
We do not intentionally collect sensitive personal information such as Social Security numbers, financial account numbers, or health information through the public Site. Please do not include that information in contact forms or public listings.
3. How We Use Information
We use the information we collect to:
- Respond to questions, visitor requests, and feedback.
- Administer membership, renewals, directory listings, and the Hackensack–Backus Visitor’s Guide.
- Promote local businesses, events, and community activities consistent with the Chamber’s mission.
- Operate, maintain, secure, and improve the Site, including search, the business directory, and the community calendar.
- Send Chamber-related updates, event notices, and membership communications when you have a relationship with us or have requested information.
- Share member highlights or event information on Chamber channels, including the Hackensack Visitor’s Center Facebook page, when that is part of a membership benefit or you have asked us to do so.
- Comply with legal obligations, protect the Chamber and the public, and enforce our Terms of Service.
4. How We Share Information
We do not sell your personal information. We may share information in these situations:
- Public listings. Information you ask us to publish in the business directory, Visitor’s Guide, event calendar, or similar public materials is intended to be public.
- Service providers. We use vendors who help us operate the Site and Chamber programs. These may include website hosting and content management (AfterNorth / REC), email and form tools, document tools such as Google, analytics providers, and social media platforms. They are permitted to use information only to perform services for us or as required by law.
- Community promotion. With membership benefits or your request, we may share business names, event details, and similar promotional content with the public, partner organizations, and on social media.
- Legal and safety. We may disclose information if we believe it is reasonably necessary to comply with law, legal process, or government requests; to protect the rights, property, or safety of the Chamber, members, visitors, or the public; or in connection with a reorganization of the Chamber.
The Site may link to third-party websites, maps, social media pages, Google documents, city websites, and event tools. Those services have their own privacy practices. We are not responsible for content or privacy practices of sites we do not control.
5. Cookies and Analytics
The Site may set cookies or similar technologies that are necessary for basic operation (for example, remembering a search or keeping a page working as expected) and cookies used to measure traffic and improve the Site. You can control cookies through your browser settings. Blocking some cookies may affect Site features such as search or forms.
Analytics tools may collect aggregated information about visits, popular pages, and referral sources. This helps us understand what information residents, visitors, and members find useful.
6. Children’s Privacy
The Site is intended for a general audience and is not directed to children under 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If you believe a child has provided personal information to us, please contact us and we will delete it.

We use reasonable administrative, technical, and physical safeguards appropriate to a community chamber of our size. No website or transmission over the internet is completely secure. Please use care when sending information by email or through online forms.
8. How Long We Keep Information
We keep personal information only as long as needed for the purposes described in this Policy, including membership records, event administration, visitor inquiries, legal compliance, and legitimate Chamber operations. Directory and published content may remain public until you ask us to update or remove it, subject to print deadlines for materials such as the Visitor’s Guide.
9. Your Choices and Requests
You may:
- Ask us to correct or update membership, directory, or contact information.
- Ask us to remove or stop publishing a directory listing, within practical limits for already-printed materials.
- Request that we delete information you submitted through a contact form, subject to records we must keep for legal, membership, or operational reasons.
- Opt out of non-essential Chamber emails by contacting us. Transactional or membership-administration messages may still be sent when needed.
To make a request, email chamber@hackensackchamber.com or write to us at the mailing address above. We may need to verify your identity before completing a request.
Depending on applicable law, including Minnesota law if and when it applies to the Chamber, additional rights may be available. If a privacy law applies to a particular request, we will handle it as required.
10. Do Not Track
The Site does not currently respond to browser “Do Not Track” signals. You can limit tracking through cookie controls and browser settings.
11. Changes to This Policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. The revised Policy will be posted on this page with an updated effective date. Continued use of the Site after changes are posted means you accept the updated Policy.
